2006-11-03 - Local Paramedics Going Worldwide MEDIAS ADVISORY / AVIS AU MÉDIAS For immediate release: November 3, 2006 Local Paramedics Ready To Deploy Worldwide Ottawa, Ontario- Local paramedics will be volunteering their time to create an Ottawa chapter of Global Medic Team. The Toronto-based relief organization is a non-government, not-for-profit, registered Canadian charity founded in 1998. It provides emergency medical care and re-construction efforts in developing countries. Paramedics will be receiving specialized training of in-class theory (morning session) and practical deployment of specialised equipment (afternoon session). The media are welcome to observe local volunteer paramedics set-up the mobile water purification system and inflatable field hospital. Most recently, a Global Medic team delivered over 3.25 million tablets of emergency medicines, 5.6 million water purification tablets, deployed an inflatable field clinic, and 10 water purification units to help war victims in Southern Lebanon. Paramédics Locaux En Formation Pour Déploiement Mondial Ottawa, Ontario- Paramédics locaux offrent bénévolement leur temps pour fonder à Ottawa une section de l'équipe Global Medic, basée à Toronto. Global Medic est une institution de bienfaisance non- gouvernementale et à but non-lucratif fondée en 1998. L'unique raison d'être de cette fondation est de fournir des soins médicaux d'urgence aux pays en voie de développement. Ces paramédics locaux recevront un entraînement spécialisé. En matinée, on présentera la théorie tandis qu’en après-midi, ce sera une démonstration pratique du déploiement d’équipement spécialisé. Les médias sont les bienvenus, pour voir les Paramédics à l'oeuvre dans l'installation, du système de purification d'eau mobile et de l'hôpital gonflable de fortune.
