Annual General Meeting - AGM Bylaws
ARTICLE 2
- BOARD OF DIRECTORS
2a. The affairs of the Association shall be managed by a board of not less than four (4) and no greater than nine (9) directors. The directors shall hold office for a term of four (4) years. At the annual meeting held on or about the termination of a term, but no later than twenty seven (27) months after a previous election, the directors shall be elected by the Paramedic Members of the Association from among themselves as provided herein.
2b. Any director, entering into a race and/or subsequent term of office for an elected political position (eg. City Council, MPP, MP) shall be placed on a leave of absence for the duration of the campaign, and shall resign from the board upon assuming a role in public office.
ARTICLE 32 - VOTING OF MEMBERS
Each Full Paramedic Member shall at all meetings of members be entitled to one vote, and may vote by proxy. Such proxy needs to be a Full Paramedic member but before voting shall provide and deposit with the Secretary sufficient appointment in writing from such person's constituent or constituents.
Each Full Paramedic Member present may only carry with them a maximum of two (2) approved "Proxy Votes" to be utilized in any voting being done as part of the Association's core business.
ARTICLE 31 - QUORUM OF MEMBERS (Pending)
A quorum for the transaction of business at any general meeting of members shall consist of at least nine (9) Full Paramedic Members present in person or represented by proxy.

The Professional Paramedic Association of Ottawa (PPAO) is not a labour union. We are run 100% by volunteers. The PPAO is responsible for promoting the practice of paramedicine in order to ensure the highest level of care for our patients. We are leaders in the advancement of paramedicine and achieve our objectives through public awareness, research and education. We lobby for self-regulation under the Regulated Health Care Professionals Act. We also assist in fundraising for community-based charities. The Professional Paramedic Association of Ottawa is a chapter of the Ontario Paramedic Association and the Paramedic Association of Canada.
